last night i had the pleasure of watching before sunrise and before sunset by myself, many thanks to 9 in 1 formats sold in quaipo. these movies make me think and dream of meeting someone in my travels and then we’ll do more than talking. richard linklater, ethan hawke and julie delpy din an excelletn work and ill list them down in my “classics must-see” when i grow old.
then i had the chance to exchange views with a hotshot lawyer who had a similar encounter atop the twin towers in kuala lumpur. i think we both agreed that the worst thing in encounters like these is the casual manner of saying goodbyes. like see you around or til next time.. yeah right. as if you’re going to meet again. my stand is, there should be no casual goodbyes when something like this happens.
you have to make the most of the moment. jesse and celine were right when they did it on the park the first time they met. and it’s not just the sex. there should be a prolonged engagement of everything. live that day like it was forever. your one shot at bliss. coz it will never come again.
i need a bottle of beer. gotta see the movies again tonight. they made me feel better.
i thought of why these movies are called before sunrise and before sunset.. ms hotshot lawyer said these are answers to the question, when is forever or how long is forever or something like that.. it made sense, hitting the right button on romantics. my theory is, these titles are the answers to the question of when they had sex. hmm. go ahead, smile.
if i was richard linklater, my friends would probably ask me that while watching the movie. there’s just too much conversation between two strangers and the common would only be interested in how they got to it. id give the movies a simple title.
