ktm resort, batam, indonesia
March 10th, 2010last valentine’s day mae and i went to ktm resort in batam, indonesia for some r&r. it was a wonderful experience. the place was beautiful, breathtaking. we had a spa session on a structure built over the sea, the sea breeze brushing our cheeks… naks. we also had a candlelit dinner beside the lagoon. the food was bad, though. the effort to make it look good was there, but the taste was really bland.
but we didnt go there for the food, we were there to relax and spend time with each other on our first and last valentine’s as bf-gf, as we are about to tie the knot soon
fortunately for us we bought cans of pringles and there was bintang beer, so we were ok. in fact, we had a great time. (taena tunog telenobela na ko ah!).
here are the photos. check them out:
no other jeans but a pair of levi’s
March 10th, 2010im the type of consumer who sticks to just one brand of almost anything. and in the case of jeans, ive only worn Bench since 2000. that’s an entire decade of bench. until last december, when mae gave me a pair of levi’s.
i was quite hesitant at first, but it was a gift from mae, and she kinda changed my life bigtime, i was open to everything she offered. so i gave in.
when i had it on, i was in shock. told myself: taena naman, bakit ngayon ko lang sinubukan to? everything felt right. the fit, the form, the buttons. i never thought jeans could be as comfortable as this. kaya pala madaming nagbebenta ng sarili, makabili lang ng levi’s 501.
since the day mae gave me my first 501, i made a promise, there’s no other jeans for me but a pair of levi’s. i now have two pairs of 501. the first one has only been washed once.
kumokonyo tayo, pero taena, dapat naka levi’s lahat kasi ang sarap ng pakiramdam. mawawala ang galit mo sa mundo.
madonna covers don mclean: american pie
March 4th, 2010i grew up listening to this song and back then i thought it was a happy song. over my adolescent years i forgot about it until madonna revived it in 2000. then i read about the tragedy that this song was based on.
here’s a little background:
“American Pie” is a folk rock song by singer-songwriter Don McLean. Recorded and released on the American Pie album in 1971, the single was a number-one U.S. hit for four weeks in 1972. A re-release in 1991 did not chart in the U.S., but reached number 12 in the UK. The song is an oblique recounting of “The Day the Music Died” — the 1959 plane crash that killed Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, The Big Bopper (Jiles Perry Richardson, Jr.), as well as the pilot, Roger Peterson. The importance of “American Pie” to America’s musical and cultural heritage was recognized by the Songs of the Century education project which listed the song as the number five song of the twentieth century. Some Top 40 stations initially played only side two of the single, but the song’s popularity eventually forced stations to play the entire piece. “American Pie” is Don McLean’s signature song.

i think madonna’s version brought the folk song closer to the younger generation, and in effect revived the interest on “the day the music died”.
